I have seen the Blue Angels perform numerous times over the years. In fact, I have a photo from the mid-1980s from when the team was still flying the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Skipping ahead to the 21st century, a more recent occasion was at an air show in Oregon in 2023. Unfortunately for me, the shoot did not turn as as well as I'd hoped. I was using older camera equipment, the lighting was not the best, and to be completely honest, I was not as good of a photographer as I am today. Which speaks to picking up your camera regularly and using it. That is really the only way one will get better over time.
Moving along in my story, this particular photo was taken in early August, 2026. Better camera, better time of day, smarter shooting knowledge and anticipation of my shots, or I like to say, getting ahead of the curve. This flight of Blue Angels was performing at the 2026 Sea Fair event in Seattle. The event happens every year and in 36 years, this was the first year I showed up to photograph their performance. I have to say overall, I'm happy with the shoot and wish I could post a few more of my images in this blog but this platform does not allow me to do that. At any rate, I hope you enjoy the photo as much as I had taking it.
