I hope I made you pause, for just a moment, when you read the title for this latest blog post. Sometimes, these titles just come to me in an instant and generally if they feel right, they are right and I go with them. I feel good about naming my images and I do name most of them, but not quite all. To me, it adds a small personal touch to the image and I believe the image also gains a certain quality from the name. A quality that helps the image to stay solidly linked with the name and helps it to become more memorable to the viewer.
The helicopter shown is a U.S. Coast Guard Eurocopter MH-65 "Dolphin". It is a U.S. variant of the French-built Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin. The Coast Guard uses the helo for med-evac, and search and rescue. As a sailor stranded at sea on a sinking boat, I have no doubt that seeing this helicopter on the horizon coming to the rescue is the most uplifting sight to behold. I have several friends who have served with the Coast Guard and I give them a tip of the hat for what they did. It is knowing they are the last hope for a person and in terrible weather and high seas they go. The Coast Guard motto is "Semper Paratus", which is Latin for "Always Ready". They are on the front lines every day saving people and THAT is one of the most admirable professions.
As always, thanks for looking and Talley Ho!
