This North American B-25J Mitchell, nicknamed "Heavenly Body", is owned by the Erickson Collection. The aircraft is named after Gen. Billy Mitchell, a strong supporter of air power in the early years between WWI and WWII. These aircraft were medium bombers and operated in nearly all theaters of the war. One modification added a huge 75mm cannon in the nose for ground support and to attack enemy shipping. One can only imagine the noise and vibration of firing that weapon.
This photo was taken at the 2023 Moses Lake Air Show and reflects a 'cinematic' theme. Thanks for reading my blog. Have a happy, and safe, New Year.
Tally ho!
