Master of Midway

The Douglas SBD "Dauntless" was the best dive bomber the US Navy had in June of 1942.  The aircraft was pivotal in helping to sink all four Japanese aircraft carriers; Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu and Soryu during the Battle of Midway.  A naval historian called it "one of the most consequential naval engagements in world history."  The Japanese Navy never pursued another naval offensive campaign after the defeat at Midway and turned instead to a defensive posture.
