Over the Threshold

For this blog post I wanted to share one of my latest photos, an Alaska Airlines Embraer ERJ-175 over the threshold and about to land.  I have found that aviation photography takes a special kind of patience and persistence.  For weeks I have been scoping out different locations to get close up and compelling images.  It can be challenging with airport property being a secured, restricted area.  Taking photos through chain link fencing with barbed wire across the top is not the kind of photos I'm after. Airports also encompass very large areas so getting close enough gets tricky.  One has to stick with it and find those spots where great photos present themselves, close enough and without obstruction.  There is a sense of accomplishment when a photographer finds those spots, they unlock the door to great photo opportunities.
