Shooting Star

Shooting Star

Hello again,

First, thanks for your time.  I appreciate you taking a few minutes from your day to read about one of the aircraft I photographed.  This blog features the Lockheed T-33 "Shooting Star".   The T-33 is the training version of the USAF P-80 jet fighter, the first jet fighter used operationally by the United States.  Only two of the type were sent to Europe at the very end of WWII and did not see any combat.  They first entered combat during the Korean War as a front line fighter.  A total of 1,715 aircraft were built. The photo was taken at the July 2023 Joint Base Lewis-McChord air show.  This air show was one of the busiest I had been a part of in recent memory with an estimated 80,000 visitors.  We were literally elbow to elbow on the flight line. This particular aircraft is named "Ace Maker" and the aerial performance was top notch.  I'm looking forward to seeing it again on the air show circuit in the Pacific Northwest.
