Sitting Duck

Sitting Duck

Another great airplane to share with you! This very rare, Grumman J2F-6 "Duck" is one of only six of this type that remain airworthy in the world. The type was originally introduced into service in 1936 which makes the design almost 90 years old.  The airplane served in all branches of the US Armed Forces; the Navy, Army, Army Air Corps, the Marines and the Coast Guard.  I cannot recall any airplane that was used so widely across all the service branches.  In total, 584 were built and operated in many different types of roles.  I enjoy showing those aircraft that few people get a chance to see, giving them a "new" look at the airplane and perhaps some interesting insights.  Thanks for looking.

Talley ho!
