Hello all,
Thanks again for being here and reading my blog. Your time is most appreciated. Of late I have been leaning into monochrome imagery. With any WWII warbird photo, black and white aligns with the era. Black and white photos are also timeless and have a unique quality where the viewer is not 'distracted' by color and must "see" the image with absolute focus on the photographers; subject, lighting and composition.
Today's image is titled "Up Close and Personal". The aircraft is a Goodyear FG-1D Corsair. This specific aircraft was taken on charge by the U.S. Navy in April 1945. The aircraft served aboard the USS Intrepid and possibly took part in combat just prior to Japan's surrender on 15 August 1945. After the war, the aircraft was transferred to the Naval Reserve and later stationed at Sand Point Naval Air Station in 1950. Enjoy!
Tally ho!
