"Mentor" - Beechcraft T-34

"Mentor" - Beechcraft T-34

Derived from the Beechcraft Model 35 Bonanza with it's 'V' shaped tail, the military version was designated T-34 Mentor.  The  T-34 first flew in 1948 and was introduced into service as a trainer for both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy.  Early models were eventually succeeded by the upgraded T-34C Turbo-Mentor powered by a turboprop engine. Over 2,300 aircraft were produced and it is still in service after more than seven decades.  The photographer got a ride in a Navy version as part of a recruiting effort in the early '80s.
