"Connie" - TWA Lockheed Constellation

"Connie" - TWA Lockheed Constellation

The Lockheed Constellation series was the first pressurized-cabin civil airliner series to go into widespread use.  Its pressurized cabin enabled commercial passengers to fly well above most bad weather for the first time, significantly improving the general safety and ease of air travel.  This series was produced starting in 1943 until 1958. With the onset of WWII, the aircraft entering production and destined for TWA were converted to an order for C-69 Constellation military transport aircraft.  Many of the military versions soldiered on as EC-121 electronic counter measures aircraft into the 1970s.
