Nicknamed "The Jug", the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was the largest single seat fighter of the war. The aircraft is showing the markings of USAAF pilot Col. David Schilling who commanded the famed 56th Fighter Group. "Hairless Joe", coded LM-S was his personal P-47 from July 1944 up until his last documented combat mission on Jan 5th 1945.
