First flown in 1949, the aircraft was used as a primary trainer for the US Air Force and US Navy. A total of 1,948 examples were built. Besides its use as a trainer, during the Vietnam War.the T-28 was successfully employed as a counter-insurgency aircraft. The type was finally retired from active service with the Philippine Air Force in 1994. It has lived on in civilian use as a warbird performer.
